Rubric

Thank you Jim for getting me thinking about the content of the project and having a point to work on...I am feeling a little in limbo with this project and appreciate any guidance.

Here is a proposed rubric for evaluating the criteria of the citations based on the research paper topic:
Criteria
Article Title - what is the title? Does it relate?
Author - is there an author or editor? Is there any additional information provided about the author(s) such as an email address, or institutional affiliation?
Publication Information - is the source a scholarly magazine, or a general publication? What is the length of the article? When was it written? Is there any supporting pictures, charts, graphs, etc?
Article or Document Type? - is anything listed?
Subject Terms/Descriptors - are they relevant?
Abstract - Does the abstract indicate that the article is useful?
Article Availability - is the article available full text? Is the article available locally in print if not in full text?

Evaluation
0 - citation incomplete, or inaccurate to the point of inability to retrieve. Citation made up or cannot be verified
1 - no relevancy to paper topic
2 - relevant, but lacking supporting criteria such as Author, or document type is invalid (book review, movie review, commentary or letter that is weak and unsupportive). Article from popular publication with no academic intent (such as TV guide, People magazine, Good Housekeeping, etc.)
3 - relevant, lacks substance - short in length, or may not focus completely on topic.
4 - relevant, includes all supporting criterion - substantial.


Of course a research paper bibliography will contain more resources than just articles (books, websites, other media), but the study will focus only on the articles.

Question about the literature review - do we just informally mention literature as is the practice in the articles we have read in class? Or does the literature have to be formal? About how many sources are people looking to cite?
